Your Questions, Answered
Do I need to do anything prior to my horses massage?
Before your therapist arrives for their session please ensure the following:
Your horse is dry and clean
Your horse is in a relaxed environment (usually their stable with a haynet)
Your horse is not likely to be disturbed during their massage - avoiding times when other horses may be getting turned out or fed if you know this will unsettle your horse.
Is there any aftercare that my horse will need?
Ensure that the horse is kept warm, preferably kept in overnight if the session was a post sports massage or remedial session, and is supplied with plenty of food and water - the massage sessions can dehydrate your horse so they will likely be thirsty afterwards.
When can I ride my horse?
After a pre-sport massage the horse can be ridden immediately.Â
If the horses has had a remedial or post-sport massage they may need 1-2 days to recover dependent on the severity of the session it this will be advised by the therapist at the end of their session.
